About the HB-3
The Brditschka HB-3 is a single-seat cantilever high-wing monoplane motor glider developed in Austria. It features an unorthodox configuration with a pusher propeller rotating inside a triangular cut-out of a tubular steel framework tail boom, and a fixed nosewheel undercarriage. The layout suits pilots seeking a specialized sailplane with powered capabilities.
Designed by Heinz W. Brditschka using wing designs originating in Germany, the first prototype made its maiden flight in the early 1970s before production ended later that decade. One airframe was notably converted to electric power as the Militky MB-E1, representing a pioneering step in electric aircraft development.
