About the AA-5
The Grumman American Avn AA-5 is an American all-metal light aircraft featuring a single piston engine and a fixed-wing configuration. Designed with four seats enclosed beneath a sliding canopy, the aircraft is widely utilized for personal touring and flight training.
Following earlier two-seat projects, the manufacturer created this four-seater by enlarging an existing design to maintain parts commonality and reduce development costs. The airframe utilizes a unique bonded aluminum wing and honeycomb fuselage construction, complemented by fiberglass main landing gear and a free-castering nosewheel. Pilots access the cabin by stepping over the wing root, and the type is recognized for its nimble handling and responsive controls.
