About the Sportcruiser
The Czech Aircraft Works Spol SportCruiser is a fixed-wing aircraft featuring a single engine, a tricycle undercarriage, and a low wing configuration built from aluminum. It accommodates two occupants and is suited for various operational classes, fitting into microlight or ultralight rules in multiple countries as well as the light-sport designation in the United States. Owners can choose between two different powerplants, and optional equipment includes an autopilot, electronic flight instrument systems, and a ballistic recovery parachute.
Originally launched by Czech Sport Aircraft, the machine was briefly incorporated into the Piper product line under a temporary licensing agreement before reverting to its original manufacturer. During its production history, it has been supplied as both a factory-built model and a kit for homebuilders. Acceptance spans several authorities, including standard homebuilt and light-sport approvals in the United States alongside specialized structural sections abroad.
