About the FK-9

The B & F Technik FK-9 is a German single-engine, two-seat ultralight featuring a high-wing configuration and side-by-side seating. Suitable for recreational flying and flight training, it accommodates pilots in a dual-control cabin accessed via top-hinged doors and utilizes a tricycle undercarriage layout.

The aircraft first flew in early 1989 and was created with design input from Peter Funk. Early models featured a mixed structure of a steel tube and fabric-covered fuselage alongside composite wings, while current production models rely on glass-fibre structures and carbon composite wings. Manufactured in both Germany and Poland, the type has been produced in multiple iterations featuring various piston engines and has sold extensively across four continents.

This page covers the B & F Technik FK 9 MK 2, FK 9 MK 3 SW (525/540 kg), FK 9 MK IV SW (525/540 kg), FK 9 MK V (525/540/570 kg), FK 9 MK VI / BF 139, FK-9, FK-9 MK IV, FK-9 MK3, FK-9 MK3B: the same aircraft under other designations.
