About the Autogyro-Calidus

The Chesapeake Sport Pilot Auto Gyro, Calidus is a German homebuilt autogyro featuring a single main rotor, a side-by-side tandem enclosed cabin with an aerodynamic fairing, and tricycle landing gear. It suits pilots seeking an amateur-built rotorcraft supplied in ready-to-fly form.

Produced by a German manufacturer in Hildesheim, the design gained regulatory approval in the United Kingdom in a modified version. The composite fuselage houses a four-stroke pusher engine and incorporates vibration dampers to minimize rotor feedback into the cabin. The aircraft has achieved registrations with aviation authorities in North America for experimental and exhibition purposes, and the basic airframe also served as the basis for a wider, side-by-side seating derivative.
