About the F172M

The Cessna F172M is an American single-engine, high-wing, fixed-wing aircraft designed with a tricycle landing gear configuration. It typically accommodates four occupants and serves primarily as a light general aviation airplane suited for personal transportation, flight training, and aerial patrol duties. Its basic layout features a cabin accessed through side doors, a single piston powerplants, and conventional tail surfaces.

Developed from earlier taildragger designs by the Cessna Aircraft Company, the aircraft introduced tricycle landing gear and evolved through numerous aesthetic and structural iterations, including swept tailfins and expanded cabin visibility. Licensed production also took place overseas in France. Surpassing all other aircraft in total production numbers with tens of thousands of units built, it remains a cornerstone of civil aviation.
