About the BX-2 Cherry

The Brändli BX-2 Cherry is a fixed-wing sport aircraft from Switzerland, configured for two occupants sitting side-by-side. Built primarily by homebuilders as a kit aircraft, it features a low-wing monoplane layout with a retractable tricycle undercarriage and is powered by a single horizontally opposed piston engine.

Designed and constructed by Max Brändli starting in his cellar, the prototype first flew in April 1982 following years of personal structural calculations and building work. The airframe utilizes a wood-framed fuselage and wooden-spar wings with styrofoam cores and glass fibre coverings. Over the years, builders have adapted various flat-four and motorcycle-derived engine options. More than one hundred examples have been completed and registered across several countries.
