About the J-5R Alpine
The Auster J-5R Alpine is a British single-engined, high-wing monoplane designed for touring and training roles. It accommodates a single pilot alongside a four-seat cabin layout, making it well-suited for instructional flying and general utility work.
Developed during the 1950s by Auster Aircraft Limited in Leicestershire, the Alpine was created as a hybrid design combining the fuselage of one production model with the wings of another. The prototype itself was converted directly from an existing trainer.
