About the CT-4 Airtrainer
The Aesl CT-4 Airtrainer is a fixed-wing, single-engine training aircraft featuring side-by-side seating for two occupants. It is fully aerobatic, making it well-suited for military flight instruction and basic pilot screening.
Derived from earlier Australian tourer designs, the aircraft was developed in New Zealand during the early 1970s to replace older military trainers. The prototype took its first flight in 1972, leading to production for several international air forces. Later upgrades introduced more powerful piston engines and refined aerodynamic features to maintain its competitiveness in military training contracts.
