Garmin Expands Flight Log Sharing With Two New Service Integrations
Garmin has announced that Class A and Coflyt have joined flyGarmin.com to allow automatic flight log sharing and analysis.
Garmin announced two new integrations for flyGarmin.com that allow aircraft owners to share flight logs automatically with additional analysis services. Class A and Coflyt are the newest additions to the growing list of platforms supporting automatic log sharing from Garmin avionics. These updates aim to help pilots gain insights across several areas, such as maintenance tracking, personalized insurance coverage, customized reports on engine health, and flight analysis.
The PlaneSync service, alongside these integrations, helps owners utilize the data collected by their Garmin avionics during every flight. Compatible avionics can record various details from engine data and GPS tracks to attitude information, departure time, aircraft total time, and carbon monoxide levels. This collection occurs from startup to shutdown when the aircraft is appropriately equipped.
Following a flight, the recorded information can be uploaded automatically to flyGarmin.com through the GDL 60 datalink and PlaneSync service. Alternatively, data transfer can happen via compatible avionics or the Flight Stream 510 wireless gateway, which moves logs to the Garmin Pilot app so they can be uploaded to flyGarmin.com. Owners can then review flights and playback data directly on flyGarmin.com.
Class A operates as an aviation insurance carrier utilizing real-world flight data analytics for personalized coverage and smarter underwriting. Through the new Garmin integration, Class A introduces a FOQA/FDM capability inside its Virtual Flight Department, offering resources previously found mostly in large professional flight departments.
Coflyt is a cloud-based aircraft management system that centralizes multiple tasks. These include scheduling, maintenance and inspection tracking, AD compliance, utilization and flight data, squawk sheets, payments, and communications within a single platform.
With these additions, Garmin customers now have access to a total of 12 integrated management and analysis services through flyGarmin.com. Other integrated services include FlySto, Crewchief Systems, Savvy Aviation, Navi, Brazos Safety Systems, Jet-Care, Pilotbase, TBX, PLANELOGIX, and AircraftMX. These providers support various functions ranging from engine analysis and recordkeeping to flight school scheduling.
Owners manage all data analysis integrations directly through flyGarmin.com by opting in to share logs automatically with selected providers. Once enabled, current and future flight logs for the chosen aircraft go to the service provider automatically, and access can be modified at any time. Aircraft flight logs are currently available on flyGarmin.com for owners utilizing compatible Garmin avionics.
