EAA Aviation Foundation Opens Scholarship Applications For The 2026-27 Cycle
Applications are now open for funding from the Experimental Aircraft Association Aviation Foundation to support flight training and aerospace education.
The Experimental Aircraft Association Aviation Foundation has announced that applications are being accepted for the 2026-27 scholarship cycle. Students who wish to apply must submit their applications by December 16, 2026, according to announcements from Oshkosh, Wisconsin. The scholarship awards will be officially distributed on March 1, 2027. Note that General Aviation News reported an earlier deadline of December 1, 2026.
These educational funds are available to individuals who are 16 years of age and older. Applicants must turn 16 by the March 1, 2027 awarding date. The program is designed to assist students aged 16 and older in funding flight training certificates or pursuing post-secondary degree programs in fields such as aviation management, aerospace engineering, and airframe and powerplant maintenance.
For flight training, the financial assistance can be applied toward obtaining a private pilot certificate, sport pilot certificate, glider license, as well as various flight ratings and endorsements. Post-secondary awards can go toward tuition expenses at universities, colleges, or trade schools for relevant aviation majors.
Rebecca Streck, who serves as the Scholarship and Fund Stewardship Coordinator, explained that financial expense is often a primary obstacle preventing young people from entering the aviation community. Streck noted that the foundation's scholarship initiative assists in overcoming this obstacle to make aviation aspirations more attainable.
During the previous year, the EAA Aviation Foundation distributed over $680,000 in scholarship funds to a total of 106 students, made possible through the contributions of donors. Interested individuals can find additional details and apply by visiting EAA.org/Scholarships.
