Description

All logbooks since new. Solid undamaged airframe, good engine core. Aircraft has been hangared for many years, dry (desert) airplane, well except for central and southern California. The paint and windows are good, and it had previously had some sort of corrosion treatment. There is dust but I didn’t see any corrosion.

Airplane was last flown about 15 years ago. Engine is disassembled for inspection due to broken through stud on #3 cylinder. Airframe disassembled for transport from Las Vegas area.

Description

Piper Cherokee 180D - N5207L (Disassembled)

Airframe 2,400 TT, no damage history. Engine 2,400 TT, ~ 350 SMOH. Propeller ~250 TT. Steam gauges, VFR panel, electric trim.

The airplane was used predominantly for private use. I do not see any evidence of flight school activity in the logbooks.

It was recently based in Henderson NV. According to the previous owner, he took off from Henderson on a local flight and about 10 minutes into the flight the engine started running rough. He landed at Boulder City (KBVU) within 10 minutes of the engine running rough. The airplane was then hangared at BVU.

The engine was removed and disassembled for inspection by the previous owner. A through stud on the #3 cylinder had broken, causing the rough running. The airplane remained in the hangar until I bought it, disassembled it and moved it to Shelton, where it remained in my hangar.

Engine

I visually inspected the engine.

• The crankshaft, camshaft, connecting rods and other steel parts show no sign of spalling or excess wear.

• Oil cooler is capped and has oil in it. I was saving this for an oil sample. ???

• The crankcase shows no sign of fretting in the area of the broken through stud. The studs are still in place.

• The bearings looked good but somehow were lost.

• Other smaller parts, pushrods, etc. look good.

• 4 cylinders are present as are the pistons, but nothing labeled. One cylinder appears to have been dropped or something because it has a bend in the base.

PROPELLER --- Is like new.

Airframe

I removed the wings and tail for transport. This included removing the interior, etc.. I was planning on replacing all structural bolts and probably a bunch of old crunchy wires.

• Fuselage is straight and undamaged. The nose strut was removed with the wheel still installed. Presently sitting on a transport dolly.

• Wings are straight and undamaged*. The wheel struts are collapsed and wheels removed for transport. *Trailing edge of one tip rib was cut. Presently sitting on wing stands.

• The wing ADs have not been done.

• The stabilator looks good. I removed the counterweight for transport.

• Vertical stabilizer and rudder are good.

• All control surfaces are good, but one aileron has a slightly bent hinge.

• Right wing fuel line (rigid tube) is missing.

• Needs washing due to desert dust.

Lots more information available if you are truly interested.

Thanks for looking.
