Description
✈️ FOR SALE — 1/4 OWNERSHIP SHARE
1979 MOONEY M20K 231 TURBO — N231ER
📍 Boeing Field (KBFI) | Seattle, WA
💰 $52,000 OBO Video to come.
Offering my 25% ownership share in N231ER, a well-equipped turbocharged Mooney M20K 231 based at Boeing Field.
This is an opportunity to step into an established four-owner partnership with a capable IFR cross-country aircraft, significant engine reserves, an established KBFI tiedown, and a group of responsible and experienced partners.
✈️ aircraft
- 1979 Mooney M20K 231 Turbo
- Continental TSIO-360-GB, 210 HP turbocharged engine
- 4 seats
- Manual wastegate
- Complete aircraft/engine/propeller logbooks
- Regular Blackstone oil analysis
- Turbo overhauled December 2023
- Landing gear actuator removed, repaired by LASAR and reinstalled in 2024
- Mountain High 4-place oxygen system
- Aircraft/body/wing/engine covers
- The engine is being operated based on condition and monitored through regular oil analysis. The most recent Blackstone analysis from July 2026, at approximately 1,855 engine/unit hours, showed improving wear trends, no indication of poor wear or contamination, and low insolubles.
🖥️ avionics
- The aircraft recently received a major avionics upgrade.
- Garmin GTN 750 GPS/NAV/COM
- Dual Garmin GI 275s
- Synthetic Vision
- Garmin GMU 11 magnetometer
- Garmin GTP 59 OAT
- Garmin GTX 345 — ADS-B In & Out
- Garmin GMA 350 audio panel
- KAP 200 autopilot
- KN-53 VOR/ILS
- JPI digital engine monitoring
- Digital fuel monitoring/totalizer
- Dual USB-C charging/data port
- Vacuum system removed as part of the GI 275 upgrade
- Approximately $22,000 was invested in the recent GI 275 avionics project alone.
💰 engine / maintenance reserve
One of the major advantages of this partnership is that approximately $35,000 is already held in reserve toward future engine/propeller/turbo and associated powerplant expenses.
That reserve stays with the LLC when a share changes ownership, so the incoming owner receives the benefit of joining an aircraft with a substantial maintenance fund already established.
💵 ownership cost
- Current fixed expenses are divided among four owners.
- 2026 aircraft insurance: approximately $3,440/year total
- KBFI SW-B4 tiedown: approximately $148.95/month total
- Fixed expenses shared equally among four owners
- Engine/maintenance contributions based on tach time
- Fuel paid based on individual use
- Maintenance and normal aircraft expenses shared according to the partnership agreement
- This structure provides access to a turbocharged, IFR-equipped traveling aircraft without carrying the full fixed costs of sole ownership.
📅 scheduling
Scheduling is handled through a shared calendar on a first-come, first-served basis.
The partnership has historically had very good aircraft availability, with no need for restrictive scheduling limits.
Longer trips are welcome with coordination among the partners.
🛫 transition training included
- I want the incoming partner to be comfortable, proficient and safe in the airplane.
- Transition training is included with the purchase of my share, including:
- Mooney M20K/231 aircraft familiarization
- Turbocharged-engine operation and management
- Avionics and autopilot familiarization
- Normal and emergency procedures
- High-performance endorsement, if needed and eligible
- Flight training/hours needed to satisfy the applicable insurance checkout requirements
- Training will be coordinated based on the incoming owner’s experience, certificates, ratings and the requirements of the aircraft’s insurer.
🏠 boeing field — kbfi
N231ER is already established at Boeing Field (KBFI) in secured SW-B4 parking.
👥 the partnership
This is a sale of one 25% ownership interest, not the entire aircraft.
The aircraft is held through Mooney Hunters LLC, with four equal ownership interests. The remaining partners are responsible aviation professionals who care about maintaining and operating the aircraft properly.
Only LLC members operate the aircraft as PIC except under specific circumstances agreed upon by the partnership.
The goal isn’t simply to sell the share—we’d like to find another responsible, safety-minded pilot who will be a good long-term fit for the airplane and partnership.
💰 ASKING $52,500 OBO — 25% OWNERSHIP
Includes the ownership interest in N231ER and the benefit of the LLC’s approximately $35,000 existing maintenance/overhaul reserve, established KBFI tiedown, partnership structure and included transition training.
📍 Boeing Field (KBFI) — Seattle, Washington
Serious inquiries are welcome. Please PM me for current aircraft times, maintenance/logbook information, operating-cost breakdown, partnership agreement, additional photos, insurance requirements or to arrange to see the airplane.
