About the T-6G
The North American T-6G is an American single-engined advanced trainer aircraft designed for military pilot instruction. It accommodates a crew of two, consisting of a student and instructor, within a robust fixed-wing layout powered by a radial engine. The type became widely known by various designations depending on the operating air force, such as the Harvard in British Commonwealth service.
Originating from an early prototype that first flew in the mid-nineteen-thirties, the design entered service before World War II and was produced in massive quantities under license and via the Lend-Lease initiative. It saw extensive global deployment through multiple conflicts well into the Cold War, performing roles from basic training to forward air control and counterinsurgency. Today, it remains a popular civil warbird for airshows and historical demonstrations.
