About the CW-1
The Curtiss CW-1 is an American fixed-wing civil utility aircraft designed with a twin-seat layout. It suits roles ranging from private aviation to military training and light attack, utilizing a low-wing cantilever monoplane configuration with a fixed tailwheel undercarriage.
Originally conceived prior to corporate restructuring, the project evolved from an initial civilian cabin design into militarized variants featuring tandem seating, armament provisions, and radial piston engines. Production was limited to a small number of examples, the majority of which were exported to South and Central American operators. Although attempts to market trainer and advanced variants to government services did not secure production orders, the basic airframe served as the technical foundation for later, more successful company designs.
