About the T-28A

The North American T-28A is a military trainer aircraft featuring a single radial engine and a fixed-wing configuration. Equipped with a tandem two-seat cockpit, it was utilized extensively by armed forces for flight instruction and later repurposed for counter-insurgency operations. Civilian operators frequently employ surviving examples for airshow performances and warbird exhibitions.

Developed to succeed older training types, the prototype first flew in the late nineteen-forties, leading to extensive military manufacturing contracts spanning several years. Following retirement from active service, numerous surplus units underwent civilian or foreign military conversions, including modifications into multi-seat cabin configurations. The type remained a primary training staple for naval aviation well into the nineteen-eighties before eventual replacement by modern turboprop equipment.
