About the J-400
The Jabiru J-400 is an amateur-built, single-engine, fixed-wing aircraft originating from Australia. Designed as a clean-sheet homebuilt machine to serve as a modern alternative to traditional general-aviation four-seaters, it features a composite airframe with fuel tanks integrated into the wings and a longer tail boom for enhanced directional stability.
Evolving from previous light sport and ultralight variants produced by the manufacturer, the type underwent maiden testing as a two-seater before completing trials in its intended four-seat configuration. Kit versions have undergone structural load testing, and active examples circulate on the secondhand market.
