About the G 109

The Grob Aircraft Se G 109 is a German type-certificated motor glider featuring a single engine and a side-by-side cockpit layout. It suits private soaring enthusiasts and European flight training programs by combining the cross-country capabilities of a tourer with the pure soaring performance of a sailplane.

Designed by Burkhart Grob, the prototype completed its first flight in 1980, leading to series production of the original version and the subsequent introduction of the improved G 109B variant. The design utilizes a composite-skinned wooden wing and a steel-tube fuselage shell equipped with a retractable engine cowling to minimize drag. Notable military operators included the Royal Air Force, which flew the type for cadet training.

This page covers the Grob G 109, G 109 B, G-109 Ranger, G-109 Vigilant, G-109B, G109, G109, G109B, G109B, GROB G 109, GROB G-109: the same aircraft under other designations.

On the label and not the count: the bands count every aircraft on the market (on_market) while the grid shows only those with a photo (live), so the count is not a promise of how many cards appear.
