About the Aerocar
The Aerocar Aerocar is an American fixed-wing roadable aircraft featuring a single air-cooled flat-four engine and a single pilot layout. Designed to function as both a car and an airplane, it suits operators looking for dual-mode transit, utilizing a basic layout with folding wings and a pusher propeller mounted at the rear.
Moulton Taylor created the design in Washington, initiating the project. The prototype featured a configuration where the tail unit and wings were towed behind the vehicle during road travel. While a small number of examples were built, the type did not achieve large-scale manufacturing, though it gained public visibility through a mid-century industry short film showcasing its dual capabilities.
