Description

N269N was delivered to the Swedish Armed forces by Schweizer in February 1987, in her military paint scheme, and took up the military callsign Kalle 43. Saab Helikopter were the agent for the type, and the ex-military engineer who did her last annual still maintains the serial number above and below ours in Sweden. The helicopter has complete back to birth records, with no damage history and was previously owned and operated in Germany cared for by a top maintenance facility. When you open the boxes of technical records for N269N, you will see for yourself why we bought it.

If you were to find the fixed wing equivalent of this Schweizer 269C it would be a Piper Super Cub. The automotive equivalent would probably be a Land Rover Defender. For a private owner who enjoys the flying as much as the destination, there is something special about this helicopter. Managing engine power and rotor RPM is part of the experience, just as flying a tailwheel aeroplane or driving a manual car rewards involvement and understanding.

N269N is a Schweizer 269C, serial number S1267, fitted with a Lycoming HIO-360-D1A engine. The maintenance status report records 3,615 hours total airframe time and 653hrs TSN on the factory engine fitted 1st May 2011. The annual inspection and airframe 25, 50 and 100-hour inspections are recorded as completed on that date, with the next annual listed as due by 31 July 2027.

N269N wears her OEM olive-green scheme complemented by a black skid undercarriage, green cabin upholstery and a red-and-white tail rotor. The aircraft has dual controls, twin fuel tanks, door opening struts, ground-handling wheels and a shrouded belt cover. The panel includes a Bendix/King KX 165A NAV/COM with an 8.33 kHz selector marking, a Becker transponder, a Sky-Map MFD and a PS Engineering PM1000II intercom, together with an attitude indicator, directional gyro and VOR/ILS indicator. The component sheet records 52% airframe component life remaining, and is available for review.
