Description

2013 Phoenix U-15 $139,000 OBO

  • The Phoenix Air U-15 bridges cross-country powered flight and pure soaring without compromise. In cruise mode the 11-meter wing delivers speed — and at just 35 feet fits comfortably in a standard T-hangar. Add the lightweight 15-meter wingtip extensions — a 60-second swap with nothing more than a Phillips screwdriver — and the aircraft transforms into a high-performance glider with a 32:1 glide ratio. Both wing configurations included.
  • No FAA medical required — fly under a Glider Rating with Self-Launch Endorsement (unconditional) or a Sport Pilot Certificate (no medical unless previously refused).
  • In February 2024 this aircraft flew from Washington State to North Carolina in four relaxed days — heated cabin, autopilot engaged, reaching ground speeds of 200 mph and cruising at 17,500 ft with oxygen. Everywhere we landed it drew a crowd of curious enthusiasts. The Phoenix Air U-15 is that aircraft.
  • The engine has only 575 hours despite 879 hours on the airframe — a natural consequence of shutting down and feathering the prop during soaring flight. The Rotax 912ULS runs strong with no oil leaks, great compression and a prop-strike-free history.
