2005 Sonex A Trigear w/ Jabiru 3300

Description

Tricycle-gear Sonex A (legacy) with Jabiru 3300 (33A660) for sale. 671 lb empty weight (479lb useful, expandable to 549 if you do the testing), ~450 hours Hobbs / 340 tach. Sensenich wood prop. Based at KSMO.

Fresh condition inspection completed by an A&P in July 2026. Compressions were 74/. Logs go all the way back to the original builder, and maintenance has been kept up throughout my year and a half of ownership, including the Jabiru-recommended 50-hour inspection performed by an A&P with my assistance. The airplane had a period of inactivity around 2013, but has since been regularly flown, maintained, and inspected.

Equipped with an AV-30E, Mode C transponder, EchoUAT ADS-B In/Out, appropriate lighting for night flying, Becker radio, and backup analog instruments.

The main known issue is several small cracks in the canopy around the mounting points. They were stop-drilled by the previous owner and have not progressed in years. This is a known issue on some Sonex canopies, and I've priced the airplane with it in mind.

It's a fun, easy airplane to fly and quick for the amount of fuel it burns. At altitude I've seen 150+ mph TAS under the right conditions burning around 6 GPH.

I'm honestly pretty sad to be selling it. I bought it and flew it coast-to-coast thinking it would be the plane I'd keep and fly for years, but life has presented me with some opportunities that I can't really take it along for. It has been a great, economical first airplane for me and would make a nice entry into aircraft ownership for someone else.
