Airframe

Van's Aircraft RV-6A, tricycle gear, serial 21077, amateur-built in Canada by D. Kingsley, an experienced builder. Completed 2008, Special Certificate of Airworthiness issued June 17, 2010, first flight May 2010. Approximately 459 hours total time since new as of July 2026, flown lightly and consistently at roughly 30 hours per year. Journey log is continuous from the builder's September 2009 test flights to date, including the original flight-test data. Annual condition inspection completed October 20, 2025 with prior inspections in September 2023 and June 2022; the aircraft was not flown in 2024 and returned to service after the 2025 inspection and check flight. The airframe has never been painted: it wears a full white and red vinyl wrap over bare aluminum, so a future owner can repaint without stripping. Current weight and balance (August 2023): empty weight 1,054 lb (478 kg), useful load 546 lb (248 kg), maximum weight 1,600 lb (726 kg) per the C of A operating conditions. Fuel

Engine

Lycoming O-320-D2A, 160 hp, serial RHP07021. Major overhaul completed May 2007 by Reliable Horse Power Inc., a dedicated aircraft engine shop at Waterloo Regional Airport, Ontario (W/O 007-021): complete disassembly, inspection and overhaul, cylinders repaired as required, carburetor overhauled, magneto 500-hour inspections, 2.4-hour test-stand run. Entered service at first flight in May 2010, so engine time equals airframe time: approximately 459 hours SMOH. The complete overhaul invoice and itemized parts list (about C$18,000 at 2007 prices) are in the engine logbook. Regular oil and filter changes logged, filters cut and inspected, no metal noted in entries reviewed. Note for buyers: the overhaul is 19 calendar years old with low annual utilization; a 2025 run-up entry noted a low left magneto reading, followed by subsequent run-ups and the October 2025 inspection. Borescope, compressions, oil analysis and magneto check at pre-buy are encouraged and welcome.

Prop is a Sensenich 70CM6S16-0-78 fixed-pitch metal propeller, S/N 38975K, with a dedicated propeller logbook on file. Fixed-pitch means no governor, no constant-speed overhaul cycle to budget for, and lower weight. The trade-off is takeoff and climb performance against a constant-speed RV-6A; for an economical VFR cross-country aircraft it is the right configuration.

Avionics

Dynon FlightDEK D180 combined EFIS and engine monitor. Dynon two-axis autopilot with AP74 control head (also controllable through the D180). uAvionix AV-30 electronic flight instrument (software update September 2023). uAvionix tailBeaconX Mode S transponder with ADS-B Out, compliant in both Canada and the United States. Garmin GDL 52 ADS-B In (traffic and weather to iPad). Dual Icom radios: IC-A220 and IC-A210. AvMap EKP IV moving-map GPS, not coupled to the autopilot (coupling possible with a cable; buyer may want to budget for a portable GPS upgrade). ACK E-04 406 MHz ELT, battery replaced 2025. Transponder and altimeter recertifications by Fliteline Maintenance (September 2023, repeated August 2025). VFR only; not IFR certified.

Interior

The airframe has never been painted

Detailed Description

C-FQVG is a low-time Van's RV-6A that has been flown the way you'd want a homebuilt to be flown: regularly, lightly, and with a continuous log from the builder's first test flight in 2009 to today. At roughly 459 hours on both airframe and engine, it sits well below most RV-6As on the market, and it was built by an experienced builder around a freshly overhauled O-320 rather than a pulled engine. The panel is fully modern for a VFR aircraft: Dynon D180 EFIS and engine monitor, Dynon two-axis autopilot, uAvionix AV-30, tailBeaconX ADS-B Out legal on both sides of the border, GDL 52 ADS-B In, and dual Icom radios. Van's published figures for the 160 hp RV-6A are 163 kt cruise at 75% and a 48 kt stall, on the fuel burn of a trainer.

What you should know going in. The Special C of A limits the aircraft to VFR, 1,600 lb and no aerobatics; it is not equipped or certified for IFR. The engine has only 459 hours since overhaul, but the overhaul was done in 2007 and the aircraft averaged about 30 hours a year, so budget a borescope, compression check and oil analysis at pre-buy; we'll make the complete 2007 overhaul invoice and parts list available. The aircraft pulls slightly left in cruise: a small rudder trim tab is needed and the right flap sits about half an inch to an inch low, both rigging adjustments the owner has identified. The AvMap GPS is an older unit. Wheel-pant finishing parts are included but not installed. The airframe has never been painted; the vinyl wrap comes off cleanly if you want a paint scheme of your own.

Asking $84,500 USD / $117,500 CAD, offers welcome. Sold with journey log, engine and propeller logs, current weight and balance, Certificate of Registration and Special C of A. Marketed in Canada and the US; Red Beacon regularly exports Canadian aircraft to US buyers and can walk you through FAA Experimental/Amateur-Built import and arrange ferry. Viewings by appointment at CST7, Quebec; pre-purchase inspection encouraged.

Remarks

Amateur-built experimental; no STC conversions apply. Van's rear wheel pants sourced from Van's Aircraft and installed by the current owner; final cosmetic finishing (wheel-pant tips and the proper gear-leg skirt, currently an aluminum skirt) is not done and all finishing parts and hardware are included with the aircraft. Two-mode wig-wag landing light and strobes installed. Panel is a full glass experimental VFR suite (see Avionics).
