Airframe

The "S" in Glasair Super 2S (or II-S) stands for stretched, meaning the fuselage is lengthened by 14 inches overall (2 inches added up front for engine accessories and 12 inches added to the tail) compared to the standard Glasair Super II and increased cockpit width by 1.4". This stretch improves pitch and yaw stability. The modification gives the aircraft lines closer to the high-performance Glasair III. A 5' by 6" skeg and 6" longer rudder also adds more yaw stability and increased rudder authority, rare in Glasair builds. If required for insurance purposes I'll provide up to 5 hours of flight instruction to get you checked out.

Engine

The engine is a Barrett modified IO-360-X with an Airflow Performance fuel injection system (used in aerobatic air show aircraft) including a fuel manifold purge valve for easy hot engine starting. Barrett mods include increased compression to 9.0, roller tappets, triple angled valves and many others. Dyno'd at 182 hp. Hartzell HC-C2YR-1 CS prop. Dual electronic E-Mags for reliability, easier starting and using automotive spark plugs rather than the very expensive aviation plugs that provide no advantage. Extended wing tips with a 68 gallon fuel capacity, separate left and right tanks (very important) plus a header tank. Slotted electric Fowler flaps. All engine cylinders and the oil sump have electric pre-heaters which can be turned on remotely, very handy in the winter to warm up the engine before you leave for the airport. Upgraded 6,000 lumen LED landing light. Upgraded the landing gear from the kit fiberglass struts to Grove aluminum landing gear. Unlike the kit gear that "creeps" it tracks 100% true saving a lot on tires.
