About the Aleks-251

The Aviatik-Alyans Aleks-251 is a twin-engine amphibious aircraft designed and built in Russia. Functioning as a parasol-wing flying boat, it is suited for multi-passenger transport and water operations, featuring a metal hull divided into watertight compartments and a cabin layout accommodating a crew of one.

Publicly introduced following initial planning by a design bureau, the prototype achieved its first flight after years of development. Distinctive design traits include an inverted inline engine arrangement, a retractable tailwheel undercarriage for land use, and wing-tip stabilizing floats. The airframe also incorporates a ballistic recovery parachute system, while manufacturers planned for potential alternative engine options in production variants.
